MIDLANDS 103 Station Manager and presenter of the hugely popular morning programme ‘Midlands Today’, Will Faulkner, will leave the comfort of the studio on February 17 to take part in a 10k run in Rhode.
The run is part of the Rhode Parish Gathering Festival and there is an invitation to come and run, jog or walk with Will on the day. Whether you do 5km or 10km that is your choice. It is only €5 to do the 5km and €10 for the 10km.
Will is expected to run the 10K route and is hoping that the people of Offaly and further afield come out to support the run and support him if he needs it in the closing stages.
The route and registration is the same as last year’s 100km event which sees registration and start from Rhode GAA Grounds and the finish in the village at Killeen’s Bar & Lounge following a loop around Rathcobican, Ballybrian and Fahy back into the village.
The 5km will also commence at Rhode GAA pitch and will follow the same route to the 3km mark where the competitors will turn and return back to the village where they will also finish at Killeen’s.
It is hoped that this will be a family fun day as kids can also take part and all children under the age of 16 are free. After the run or walk, shower facilities will be available in Rhode GAA grounds and tea and sandwiches will be available for all competitors in O’Toole’s Lounge and the showing of last years’ 100k DVD will be shown while the tea and sandwiches are been enjoyed.
As proceeds from the run will be going to Irish Autism Action who support people with autism and their families, we are asking all people and business to put back up their Irish Autism Blue flags that they had for last year’s 100km to decorate the village once again.
If people don’t have a flag and would like to get one please contact Niall Murphy or alternatively they will be on sale from local business at €5 each. The list of business that they are on sale in will be available next week.
Mark the date in your diary, Sunday, February 17 and join Will Faulkner for 5k or 10k run, jog or walk.
