An Offaly man and a British woman have been imprisoned in Dubai after being convicted of committing an ‘indecent act’

Conor McRedmond from Tullamore and Rebecca Blake from Surrey in England were both sentenced to three months in prison and then deportation after being charged with ‘breach of honour with consent’ and committing ‘an indecent act in a taxi’. Both denied the charges and are expected to appeal.

They had pleaded guilty to a further charge related to consumption of alcohol in public.

Mr McRedmond had claimed that the taxi driver had made a false allegation following a dispute over a taxi fare. The incident occurred on May 4th this year.
