Fears allayed on Birr Day Care Unit closure

FEARS over the August closure of the Day Care Centre at Birr Community Nursing Unit have been allayed with the news that it is temporary to allow for staff annual leave.

FEARS over the August closure of the Day Care Centre at Birr Community Nursing Unit have been allayed with the news that it is temporary to allow for staff annual leave.

Offaly Deputy, Marcella Corcoran Kennedy said that following representations to the Director of Nursing, as a result of queries from worried constituents, she has received confirmation that the Unit will close on August l next, and will re-open as normal on August 22 after a three-week period of staff annual leave.

“This is very welcome news for the many older people in Birr and surrounding areas who use this wonderful facility on a regular basis,” said the Fine Gael Deputy, who added that she had received a number of representations from worried constituents.
