GARDAI in Tullamore are investigating an alleged assault which occurred during the Division 1 Football League Final between Ballycumber and Edenderry on Saturday evening last in Mucklagh.
The incident took place near the end of normal time in the game when a 17-year-old player on the Edenderry team appeared to be struck by a mentor from the opposing side in front of the Ballycumber dug out. The player was chasing down the ball as it ran out of play at the time.
The ‘Offaly Express’ understands that the victim had one tooth knocked out, another chipped while also suffering a bloody nose.
