THE feast of Corpus Christi will be celebrated this weekend and the procession in Tullamore will be held on Saturday evening, June 25.
This will be the 85th procession in the parish of Tullamore and the organisers are confident the renewed interest of recent years will continue.
The procession will commence immediately after the Vigil Mass on Saturday night, leaving the Church by the Store Street entrance. The procession will then proceed via Store Street, Harbour Street, William Street, Church Street, Henry Street, Harbour Street, and in to the Church grounds where Solemn Benediction will be celebrated.
There is a tradition whereby householders and business premises on the route put up flags, bunting and religious objects, it is hoped this will be upheld this year, not only on the route, but also all around the parish.
A special welcome is extended to former parishioners and members of surrounding parishes who do not have a Procession, to all who were in any way connected with the Parish of Tullamore, and to all with an interest in this great feast.
The committee request readers to pass this information on to family members and friends who no longer live in the town.
The continued success of the Procession depends on the support of the Clergy and Parishioners; it is by the public display of faith that the procession continues to thrive.
