Two new Gardai for Offaly

TWO Gardai who passed out last week will be stationed in Offaly.

TWO Gardai who passed out last week will be stationed in Offaly.

126 Gardai in total, 38 female and 88 male, graduated from Templemore last Thursday. The graduates had their certificates presented by Minister of State at the Department of Finance with special responsibility for the OPW Martin Mansergh.

Two Offaly Gardai were among the graduates. Gda Peter Daly from Tullamore will not be stationed in Dun Laoghaire while Gda Kevin Kennedy from Portarlington will now be stationed in Ballymun.

Meanwhile Gda Simone Malone from Kincora in Limerick will be stationed in Birr while Gda Mark Colgan from Kilkenny will join Tullamore Garda Station.

The Commissioner’s Medal, awarded to the Student achieving the highest aggregate marks in academic subjects, was won by Garda Eamon Honan a native of Dublin, and who will be stationed at Fitzgibbon Street Garda Station Dublin.

Garda Neasa Ni Chearnaigh a native of Gaoth Dobhair, was awarded the GARY SHEEHAN MEMORIAL MEDAL, commemorating a Recruit Garda who was killed on duty in Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim, in December, 1983. This prize is awarded to the best all-round Student. Garda Ni Chearnaigh will be attached to Sligo Garda Station.
