MEMBERS of Tullamore Area Committee passed on their best wishes to the county’s two newest TD’s.
In leading tributes Chairperson Cllr Sinead Dooley said Barry Cowen had been 18 years on Offaly County Council and she was sure “he would work hard for the area” and would retain links with Offaly County Council.
Cllr Dervill Dolan echoed her sentiments while Cllr Johnny Butterfield offered commiserations to the unsuccessful candidates who will “live to fight another day.”
Cllr Tommy McKeigue also expressed his good wishes to the elected candidates and said there was huge onus on the people elected to represent the county. “We all have to work together,” said Cllr McKeigue.
Cllr Molly Buckley said she appreciated it was a difficult time but the Government already had a “five point plan” in place.
