DIFFICULTIES with the water supply across Offaly persist as the repair work and damage assesment continues after the recent severe cold spell.
Offaly County Council has advised that there are disruptions to a number of Water Supplies caused by the thaw. Water may be shut off at any time during the day due to bursts and to facilitate repairs.
Water will be restricted overnight on all schemes to build up reservoir levels.
Water Services Staff will continue to work throughout the New Year Period to ensure repairs are carried out promptly and that water supplies will be maintained.
Consumers are reminded that in some cases frozen services may take a number of days to thaw.
Offaly County Council has also appealed to consumers to conserve water and have asked keyholders to check unoccupied premises for burst pipes. The local authority has also asked farmers to check outbuildings and drinking troughs regularly.
To facilitate people who may be experiencing loss of water supply, Offaly County Council will provide water at a number of locations between 10am and 4pm, today (Thursday) as follows:
Tullamore
Cloncollig at The Gael Scoil
Puttaghaun Close
Kilbride Street Opposite The Lantern Pub
