Ballycumber publican robbed

A BALLYCUMBER publican was tied up and robbed by armed raiders at his home last week.

A BALLYCUMBER publican was tied up and robbed by armed raiders at his home last week.

The man had retunred home from work when two men entered his home and held him down. They tied him up with cable ties before taking two shotguns and a sum of money from his home.

The men armed with a wheel brace and a hammer are believed to have assaulted the man before leaving.

Gardai are appealing to anyone who was in the Ballycumber between 1am and 2am on Thursday morning who may have noticed any suspicious activity to contact them in confidence at Tullamore Garda Station on 057 93 27600.

In Edenderry on Thursday night a front windown was broken in a house in Fr Paul Murphy Street. Three youths were observed fleeing the scene. The same night a house was also broken into in the town and a car taken. The registration was 02 MH 211. Anyone with any information on either incident is asked to contact Gardai in Edenderry in confidence on 057 97 31290.

Meanwhile two houses were broken into in the Aghancaran area of Durrow in Tullamore on Friday. One house was completely randsacked and a substantial amount of property was taken including laptops and a rifle. Nothing was taken from the second house. Again any information can be given to Gardai in Tullamore.
