EDENDERRY’S former Church of Ireland church ‘The Glade’ will appear on RTE’s ‘Nationwide’ next Monday evening.
Located in Rahin, just 10 minutes from Kinnegad and Edenderry the building was purchased by Nida and Gerry Collins in 2007.
Mary Fanning form the Nationwide programme came to film at The Glade for the show a few weeks ago and her interest was in how Nida acquired the Glade and why and how she is coping with the obvious financial challenges that buying such a property has presented.
She also wanted to share with viewers how Nida is a breast cancer survivor and how it impacted her purchasing of The Glade.
“I was delighted when Nationwide agreed to film at The Glade and am so grateful to all those who helped me on the day,” said Nida.
Mairead Evans, along with other members of The Historical Society shared the history of The Glade, Ger McMahon acupuncturist, and crystal healer and founder of the holistic group called The Seekers also came along with some members of the group to lend support.
Anna O’ Neill who runs cup cake decorating workshops brought some children out, Wild Fell Vintage china hire were thrilled to be part of the day and Niall Kelly brought along his horse and carriage. Michael Costello of Rose Petals and Phil Hayes of The Flower Pot provided ambience.
All who came for the filming were treated to a mini concert by singer Jane McNamee.
