CALLS for a standardised response to homelessness and that housing applicants should be assessed as speedily as possible were made by one Offaly County councillor.
Fine Gael’s Molly Buckley proposed the motion at the monthly meeting of Offaly County Council and called for the Council to examine this issue.
Her party colleague, Cllr Tommy McKeigue called for a one stop shop for housing applicants. “At the moment, it doesn’t make for a user friendly system,” he pointed out.
Cllr McKeigue said that people are being pulled from one agency to another at the moment. Sean Murray, Director of Services, had no difficulty with the motion and undertook to look into the issue.
