Mother drowns after canal tragedy

THE 45 year old Tullamore mother, who died tragically after she plunged into the Grand Canal, near Rahan village, will be laid to rest today (Wednesday, October 26).

THE 45 year old Tullamore mother, who died tragically after she plunged into the Grand Canal, near Rahan village, will be laid to rest today (Wednesday, October 26).

Kay Condron, Blueball, Tullamore drowned after she stepped too close to the water edge and lost her footing last Sunday.

The mother of one, who worked locally in Tullamore, was out walking with her husband, Kevin, along the banks of the canal at the time of the accident. He had attempted to pull her from the waters as she struggled but he was unable to get her to safety.

Meanwhile, investigating Gardaí believe a hive of wasps may have contributed only incidentally to the death.
