THE R489, which is the main road going through the parish of Lorrha, Rathcabbin and Riverstown, has received extra funding.
The section from Roden to Curragha Cross will be strengthened and restored with tarmac.
Cllr Michael O'Meara has welcomed this. “I have requested that extra funds be allocated to this road. It is the main artery crossing from the west to the midland region with huge volumes of very heavy traffic on it. I’m continuing to lobby for more money for this road and I am requesting that it is all redeveloped right into Portumna within the next three years” said Cllr O'Meara.
