The ornate lamps in Roscrea's Glebe Park have been out of service for some time and soon will be restored to use - just in time for the busy summer season when the Park bursts into life with families and visitors.
Users of the Glebe Park and Playground in Roscrea will be happy to hear that the long-running efforts to repair the lighting in the Park has been resolved.
Cllr. Shane Lee, who has spoken with many of the areas’ residents over a long period of time, says that there was an ongoing difference of opinion over who was responsible for the maintenance of the ornate lighting.
“On the one hand, the Council said that the lighting had been installed by a Community Group and, as a result, was not their responsibility”, Cllr. Lee explained.
“The local residents felt that, as it is a public amenity area, that the Council should maintain the lighting.
“I am very pleased to say that, having made this issue a priority and consistently raising it with Council Officials, the matter has now been resolved and the lights will be restored to their former glory with the work including the replacement of the ornamental heads.
“I have been informed by the Contractor undertaking this work that it is expected to be completed by the end of this week”, Cllr. Lee said. he concludes.
