Hospice group gets a huge fundraising boost from local businessman

ROSCREA Hospice Fundraising received a huge boost recently.

Local business man Danny Houlihan (Ashbourne Meats) handed over a fantastic amount to Colm Brophy, Treasurer of Roscrea Hospice.

Mr Brophy told the Tribune, “I received a call from Shane Lee asking us to attend a meeting with Mr Houlihan. Mr Houlihan was interested to find out what we were doing in the local community with regard to Hospice Care and how our fundraising was going. He mentioned that maybe he and his company could help out in some way.

“He told me about Ashbourne Meats being in business since 1985 and employing over 200 staff in both plants (Roscrea & Naas). He listened to our ambition of securing a premises in Roscrea where clients and their families could get treatments and counselling while on their cancer journey.

“The following week he presented us with a cheque for €10,000 which will be a huge help in getting to our goal of having a premises in Roscrea.

“So on behalf of Roscrea Hospice fundraising committee and all the users of our services we would like to thank Mr Houlihan and his company Ashbourne Meats for what’s a huge boost to the local service users,” concluded Mr Brophy.
