A special free night dedicated to walking will take place in Bookworm Bookshop, Thurles on Friday, January 27th, beginning with a drinks reception at 7pm. The first speaker of the night will be Brid Ryan Bourke of Mid Tipp Hillwalkers, who will speak about the many opportunities for taking up walking as a pastime in 2023.
Author, John G. O’Dwyer, will recount some of his favourite stories from the Irish uplands, including events during the War of Independence and Civil War. He will also describe the exciting new Pilgrim Path honouring Saint Aidan and David, which will link Ferns in Wexford with St David’s city in Wales.
Finally, hugely experienced walker Michael Walsh of the Irish Camino Society, will speak about the many historic links that connect Ireland and Spain, through pilgrim walking.
The evening will end with a presentation of funds raised by the local walking group to St Vincent de Paul, Upperchurch; Cameo Care, Thurles; North Tipperary Cancer Society and Thurles, St Vincent de Paul. All are most welcome to come along on what should be a most enjoyable evening. Don’t miss it.
