Car seized after drugs detected in North Tipp

The motorist provided a positive result for three illegal substances on the Garda Drugwipe detector

Gardaí are continuing their Christmas and New Year crackdown on intoxicated driving and seized a car and arrested a motorist after using their new Drugwipe system.

The driver was arrested in North Tipp after testing positive for three illegal substances.

Tipperary Roads Policing Unit noticed a car being driven erratically in Nenagh this morning and intercepted the vehicle.

The driver was stopped and arrested on suspicion of operating a vehicle on the public road under the influence of illegal drugs after a positive result was returned on the new Drugwipe test for Cocaine, Cannabis and Benzodiazepines.

Gardaí are warning motorists of the risks to both themselves and other road users when they get behind the wheel while under influence of drink or drugs.
