Gillian Anderson walks Miu Miu runway to close Paris Fashion Week

Actress Gillian Anderson made a surprise appearance on the runway as she closed the autumn/winter 2026 show for Miu Miu during Paris Fashion Week.

The X-Files star walked the final look wearing a mustard-yellow embellished shift dress, bringing the presentation by designer Miuccia Prada to a close as guests looked on from either side of the grass-covered runway.

Also appearing on the catwalk was actress Chloë Sevigny, who has long been associated with the brand’s offbeat aesthetic.

Sevigny walked in a dark-tailored blazer layered over a short skirt, paired with burgundy heels, continuing the show’s theme of understated yet slightly unconventional styling.

Initially launched in 1993 as an accessories-heavy “anti-fashion” counterpart to Prada, Miu Miu has steadily evolved into a standalone label with its own identity.

The brand moved its runway shows from Milan to Paris in 2006 to emphasise its independence, while continuing to appeal to a younger and more experimental audience.

Often described as a master of the “not-quite-right” aesthetic, Prada has long used Miu Miu as a platform for instinctive and more playful ideas.

That idea was visible throughout the AW26 runway.

Models walked along a grassy runway framed by deep red patterned walls and rows of seated guests, creating a wild, forest-like setting that contrasted with the simplicity of many of the garments.

Short silhouettes dominated the collection, as several looks featured minimal shift dresses with square necklines and clean lines, emphasising their uncomplicated structure.

In one look, a model walked barefoot down the runway wearing a dark sleeveless mini dress with a small bow detail at the neckline, carrying her heels in one hand while a compact handbag hung from her shoulder.

Elsewhere, simple tailoring appeared in the form of block-coloured mini dresses, styled with pointed heels and oversized fur aviator hats that introduced the winter-ready element.

This was a recurring motif across the show. Several models wore the large furry hat paired with tinted sunglasses, creating a slightly eccentric styling contrast with the otherwise simple ensembles.

In another look, a pale-pink shirt dress was paired with a matching fur hat and sunglasses, worn with flat shoes and a structured handbag.

Compact handbags appeared repeatedly across the runway, either carried by hand or worn crossbody, while footwear ranged from pointed pumps to casual flats.

Another recurring motif was the return of the pencil skirt, a shape that has gradually been reappearing across Fashion Month.

One look paired a crisp white button-down shirt with a fitted white pencil skirt, styled with knee-high brown leather boots and a structured black handbag. The streamlined proportions created a clean, almost office-ready silhouette, suggesting a shift toward more classic tailoring after several seasons dominated by looser and more oversized shapes.

Sheer fabrics also emerged as a key trend within the collection. In one look, a translucent mesh top layered over delicate embellishment was paired with dark tailored trousers, offering a subtle contrast between transparency and structure.

The barely-there fabric created a fluidity in an otherwise minimal and sharp look, emphasising a broader trend in the return to Nineties sheer seen across multiple runways.

As the show progressed, the restrained silhouettes gave way to more decorative pieces.

The final look worn by Anderson featured intricate embellishment across the fabric, transforming the otherwise simple shift dress into a statement closing piece.

Her appearance, alongside Sevigny’s cameo, highlighted Miu Miu’s long-standing relationship with actresses and unconventional muses.

Throughout its history, the brand has frequently cast slightly unexpected figures for campaigns and runway appearances including Willem Dafoe, Richard E. Grant and Alexa Chung, reinforcing its reputation as a luxury label that celebrates individuality and offbeat glamour.
