Deputy Jackie Cahill has been named on Vladimir Putin's travel ban list of Irish politicians.
The Fianna Fáil TD for Tipperary has confirmed that he has been named on Vladimir Putin’s travel ban list, in response to Cahill’s support for Ukraine and its people in the face of ruthless aggression.
Deputy Cahill has been informed by the Department of Foreign Affairs that he is one of a number of Irish politicians to face such a sanction.
Speaking on this today, Cahill said: “The Department of Foreign Affairs has informed me that I have been named on Vladimir Putin’s Russian travel ban list.
“I am proud to stand with the people of Ukraine and against the shameful, illegal, murderous campaign that Putin is waging against Ukraine and her people.
“Vladimir Putin is nothing but a bully. He’s a tyrant. He’s a thug.
“I’ve been a member of the Ireland-Ukraine Parliamentary Friendship Group for two years and our cross-party group has stood in solidarity with the people of Ukraine since Putin first invaded.
“I will continue to stand for decency, respect for human life, peace, and the sovereign right of a people to self-determination”, Deputy Cahill told the Tribune.
