Huge proportion of residents in Offaly village want traffic calming measures
Residents of an Offaly village are hoping that more traffic calming measures will be installed.
A huge proportion of residents living in Rhode, Co Offaly, have signed a petition calling for additional traffic calming measures in the village.
Edenderry municipal district councillor Robert McDermott congratulated the great work done by Rhode Residents recently when they collected over 200 signatures for traffic calming measures to be implemented in the village.
“I was delighted to support this campaign and following on from my representation to Offaly County Council, I have received a reply from the County Engineer stating that “the issue in Rhode was investigated by the Edenderry Municipal District with a view to obtaining funding for safety measures in Rhode Village,” said Cllr McDermott.
“Offaly County Council has confirmed to me that there is now a specific allocation of €185,000 from the National Transport Authority for works in Rhode under our 2022 allocation. These works will now undergo a design and public consultation phase and the Edenderry MD Engineer will keep you and the other members updated as the project progresses. This is great news and a positive step forward for the people of Rhode” continued Cllr. McDermott.
