Another strong result for Shane Lowry on PGA tour
It was another good weekend for Shane Lowry on the PGA tour.
The Offaly man shot four rounds in the 60s at the Valspar Championship to finish in a tie for 12th place.
After a two under par round on Thursday, Shane shot three consecutive three under par rounds to finish the tournament on 11 under par. His round included this birdie on the sixth hole
The tournament was won after a play-off by Sam Burns on 17 under par. He defeated Davis Riley on the second extra hole. Riley recovered from a triple bogey on a par five earlier in the day to finish tied at the top after 72 holes.
Justin Thomas and Matthew NeSmith finished one shot further back in a tie for third.
The result will move Shane up to 40th in the Fed Ex Cup standings and he is up to 33rd in the latest Official World Golf Rankings after starting the week in 36th.
He has now finished inside the top 14 in six of his last seven tournaments.
Shane will be hoping to continue his good form when he is be back in action on Wednesday this week at the World Matchplay Championships. The tournament is played on a round robin basis for the first three days before the top players go into a knockout format over the weekend.
