Second place finish for Shane Lowry at Honda Classic after late downpour hurts his chances
A torrential late downpour just as he was about to tee off on his final hole hurt Shane Lowry's chances of winning the Honda Classic on the PGA Tour where he ultimately finished in second place
The Offaly golfer led for much of the final round and was level with Austrian Sepp Straka with each having one hole to play.
However crucially, Straka was one group ahead of Lowry and he teed off the final hole, a par five, before the torrential rain hit.
The Austrian birdied the last to finish the tournament on ten under par.
Unfortunately for Shane Lowry, his tee shot in horrendous conditions went into the rough and while he gave himself a chance of a par, his final putt came up short and he had to settle for second place.
The Offaly man was rock solid throughout the final round with three birdies and no dropped shots but Straka finished strongly with three birdies in the last five holes to pip Lowry to the title.
