OFFALY Fianna Fail TD Barry Cowen literally lined up with some of the stalwarts of Tullamore GAA last Friday.
The Clara man – who formerly played football for the Blues' fiercest local rivals – sat in for a photograph with the Tullamore men outside the GAA Centre after the announcement that the club had been granted €150,000 which will be spent on all-weather, fencing and floodlighting facilities.
Pictured with the Laois-Offaly Dail deputy were Jackie Longworth, Brian Collins, Declan Harvey, Val Smith, Tony McCormack and Alo Lawlor.
Deputy Cowen posted the picture on social media saying he had been “out 'n about” in Tullamore and called to congratulate Tullamore GAA club on their successful approval by the Government for their development proposals under the Sports Capital Programme.
In all, clubs around Offaly received €2.7m, which Deputy Cowen said was a “Magnificent record investment”.
The TD added: “Delighted to have assisted many on the journey. A welcome boost for communities & tireless volunteers throughout the ‘Faithful'.”
