POPULAR Tullamore butcher, Michael Hanlon has announced his retirement after more than four decades in the meat trade and 34 years in business on Patrick St.

Michael said the time has come to hand over the mantle and take life at a slightly slower pace.

It is a bittersweet decision as Michael acknowledges how much he enjoyed his work despite its challenges and how he values the relationships and lifelong friends he has made along the way.

However his decision has been made easier knowing the business will continue in a safe pair of hands, ensuring customers will receive the same good service and quality products they have come to expect at No. 28 Patrick St over the years.

Michael would like to thank all those who helped and supported him over the past 34 years, remembering his late parents, family, staff, suppliers, service providers and especially his customers, both past and present, who helped make the business what it is today.

He wishes to assure all those who save in the Christmas savings club that this will continue and any outstanding gift vouchers can be used as normal.

Going forward Michael wants to wish Connie Brophill and family every success with the business.

Connie has worked alongside Michael for almost 25 years as a hard working, dependable colleague.

His experience and knowledge of the business will ensure a smooth and seamless transition and the continuation of the same quality service.
