REVEALED: Who are the highest paid RTE presenters

RTÉ has revealed latest highest paid presenters with Ryan Tubridy topping the list

Ryan Tubridy tops the list of highest paid presenters at RTÉ

RTÉ has published the fees earned by its highest paid presenters in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

In addition, RTÉ has confirmed that, as part of a range of cost-cutting measures announced last year, the total fees paid to its highest paid presenters has been reduced by 15% in 2020.

The top seven presenters were the same throughout 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Late Late Show host, Ryan Tubridy, was the top earner each year taking home €491,667 in 2017, €495,000 in 2018 and €495,000 in 2019.

Ray D'Arcy was the second highest earner at €450,000 each year. Liveline presenter Joe Duffy was third highest earner earning around €400,000 each year.

The top three were followed by Sean O'Rourke, the late Marian Finucane, Miriam O'Callaghan and Claire Byrne.

Other to make the list over the three years were George Hamilton, Darragh Maloney, Nicky Byrne, Brendan O'Connor, Bryan Dobson and Mary Wilson.

RTÉ Director-General Dee Forbes, said: “Our presenters have been crucial to RTÉ’s output throughout this pandemic, as audiences turned to their national public media in record numbers for vital news, information, entertainment and companionship. They continue to make a significant contribution to public media in Ireland and enable RTÉ to optimise important commercial revenue, which is essential to support our public services.

"RTÉ has reduced overall annual operating costs by over €100 million since 2008 and last year targeted additional savings of €60 million over three years, which we are on course to deliver. In that context, we continue to keep the fees of our highest paid presenters under constant review."
