Offaly home seekers urged to partake in housing review
Offaly local election hopeful Christine Traynor has welcomed and urged people to partake in Offaly County Council's housing review.
“Home seekers who have been on the Housing List for five years and more, face continued and uncertain times,” Christine said.
The council have begun the process of accepting applications for their county-wide review and applications are being sought up to May 17.
“We need to address the serious issue of lack of housing stock, not only are we not building enough homes, but we also don't have enough rental accommodation for people working in the area,” she added.
"We all know that Government policy on housing has failed,” Christine claimed, “but at least on a local level the council have begun this very welcome process."
"I have been meeting with many people at the doorsteps who are struggling to cope because of the lack of housing, between overcrowding and houses not fit for habitation. This is having a serious effect on people’s health and quality of life."
Applications must be submitted by Friday and Christine is calling on anyone who is affected to get their forms and have them completed and returned by Friday.
“If anyone needs assistance they can reach me by Facebook messenger and we will do all we can to assist. The deadline is Friday, May 17," Christine concluded.
