Déjà vu! It could snow again in Offaly this Sunday
A week after the country experienced an unexpected bout of heavy snow, an Offaly forecaster says we could see more wintry weather this weekend.
Cathal Nolan from the Midland Weather Channel has warned of wintry conditions with snow most likely on high ground but possible once again at lower levels on Sunday.
"Conditions over the coming weekend are expected to remain cold for the time of year, with temperatures ranging typically between 4-8 degrees Celsius," he said.
"Both Saturday and Sunday are likely to be showery days, with a spell of more organised rain, sleet and possibly snow on Saturday night into Sunday morning."
"The highest risk of seeing some wintry precipitation will occur through the early hours of Sunday morning as overnight rain clears, possibly turning to snow for a time."
"And also during the remainder of Sunday when heavy squally showers of hail, sleet and snow feed in from the Atlantic on the back of a strong westerly wind, touching gales force along the west coast," Cathal continued.
"Further outbreaks of rain will continue on and off through the remainder of today before clearing to showers for tomorrow," he concluded on Friday.
