Birr Castle
Birr Castle has made the Top Ten of a prestigious list compiled by Lonely Planet.
The list is of the ten of the world’s most child-friendly castles and Birr makes it along with castles in Jordan, England, Germany, Denmark, Japan, South Africa, Switzerland, India and France.
Lonely Planet says Birr Castle is less about kings, queens and historical battles as it is about science and astrology.
You are urged to visit the castle’s 'dynamic Science Centre for an interactive education into the gadgets and gizmos used in early astronomy'.
It adds that once the kids' brains have reached information overload, there’s a fabulous adventure playground and extensive gardens where you can enjoy a completely different kind of space.
