Plans unveiled for housing development on famous Tullamore site

Planning permission is being sought by Tullamore based Capital Homes, for a new development of 99 homes at Kearney’s Field on the Clara Road in the town.

This new development will offer a range of spacious A-rated homes catering to all life stages while the Clara Road site offers an ideal location with easy access to the town centre and rail station.

Capital Homes worked with renowned local historian Michel Byrne in choosing an appropriate name for the development and are proposing to call it “Redwood,” restoring a long-lost townland name of Tullamore, as the town approaches the 400th anniversary of the royal grant which bestowed the town’s civic status in the 1620s.

“Redwood” will offer a comprehensive choice of house-types: three-bedroom bungalows, three-bedroom terraces, three and four-bedroom semi-detached and four-bedroom detached homes.

The development will also feature attractive landscaping, walkways and play areas. Local firm Kenny Lyons are architects for the development, while Philip Kelly and Andrew Dignam of DNG Kelly Duncan have been appointed sales agents.

Capital Homes entered the new homes development sector in 2013 and has recently completed its flagship development of 111 homes at Landen Park in Naas Co Kildare.

Landen Park was one of the first large schemes to be constructed in Co. Kildare under the new building regulations.

The company’s philosophy is centred on delivering high-quality homes with an emphasis on customer service. As a local company, Capital Homes say they have a vested interest in contributing to Tullamore’s economy while creating an attractive development that will complement and enhance the fabric of the town’s residential community.

Pending a grant of planning permission, construction is expected to begin in Summer 2019.
