Offaly included in Met Éireann weather warning for 'possible storm force winds'

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow wind advisory for the entire country.

Met Éireann warns of very windy conditions on Friday with possibly storm force winds along parts of the coast.

The advisory was issued on Wednesday and is valid from 6am to 8pm on Friday.

In their latest forecast, Met Éireann said: "Friday will be very windy with strong to gale force southwest winds and severe gusts."

"Winds will veer westerly by early afternoon. They will continue very strong for a time and then gradually ease. Rain in the morning will clear eastwards with heavy showers following for the rest of the day. Highest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees. Friday night will be breezy with clear spells and scattered showers."
