Gardaí are continuing their investigations into an alleged attempted theft at the Aldi supermarket in Edenderry on Wednesday, October 24.
It is alleged that an elderly shopper was approached by a number of people acting suspiciously at approximately 9.30am on Wednesday.
Nothing was stolen from the woman and nothing was illegally removed from the store.
Gardaí have confirmed to the Offaly Express that "no arrests have been made but investigations are ongoing."
Laois-Offaly Crime Prevention Officer Sgt. Graham Kavanagh said, "we are reminding people while shopping to be aware of their surroundings and their personal effects, especially wallets, handbags and purses."
The incident remains under investigation.
