A very relieved Offaly woman and her dog have been reunited after 13 long and nerve wracking days apart.

Danielle Kealy's much loved and very shy pet, Mia, went missing in the Kinnitty area of the county on October 15 but was finally reunited with her worried owner over the weekend. There had been many sigthings of Mia in the area but, because she is a nervous dog, she proved very difficult to catch.

Thankfully however, Mia's adventure had a happy ending when she was finally picked up and returned to Danielle.

Speaking to the Offaly Express, Danielle said that the original article on the Offaly Express website was a huge help in getting people to keep an eye out for Mia and she thanked everyone for their help.

"I'd like to say a big thank you to all who have helped out and shared the post and also a big thanks to Anne Little from Clonaslee who actually managed to pick her up. If it wasn’t for her, we wouldn’t have her. She is currently in the vets at she is very poorly but fingers crossed we will have her home soon."
