Residents in Tullamore have been expressing concern and disgust following a number of illegal fires.
The latest incident, pictured above, was reported early on Friday evening, September 28, close to the Clara road in Tullamore.
Residents allege that the fire was due to the illegal burning of rubbish in the area.
A resident told the Offaly Express that as the fire burned, sending thick black smoke and overwhelming smells into nearby cars and houses, "there was no sign of guards or authorities anywhere."
"I think it’s a disgrace that they can openly light a fire like that and burn their rubbish but everyone else has to dispose of theirs correctly," the anonymous local said.
When asked by the Offaly Express about this incident and illegal dumping and burning of rubbish, a local Garda spokesperson said, "I would say that anyone that has information about offending behaviour should come forward to An Garda Siochana or Offaly County Council about dumping issue."
Information about this or any other similar incident should be reported to local Garda Stations.
