Offaly pub pay heartfelt tribute to former employee killed in crash

A former employer of the 18-year-old Offaly student killed in a tragic road accident outside Athlone IT on Tuesday morning, September 11, has paid a heartfelt tribute.

Jordan Murphy was commencing his second year in a business course at the college when he was struck by a car while walking near the campus. He was transferred to Tullamore Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Tullamore native, who worked in the Brewery Tap pub, was a popular young man, and tributes have flooded in from across the country.

The Brewery Tap said on Thursday, "Sometimes in life things happen that make absolutely no sense at all. Last Tuesday we received the terrible news that a former colleague and friend of ours Jordan Murphy had passed away tragically after an accident."

"Everyone here is in total shock. Jordan was a lovely pleasant young man who always had a big smile on his face. He was so popular here with our customers and we have received so many kind messages of support since Tuesday."

"May you Rest In Peace Jordan and Never Walk Alone," Paul, Cathyanne and all the staff in the Tap said. The pub also said they will remain closed until 12 noon on Friday as Jordan's funeral takes place.
