Liverpool jerseys requested at funeral of tragic Offaly crash victim

The family of the 18-year-old man killed in a road crash outside Athlone IT on Tuesday morning have requested "as many people as possible" wear Liverpool jerseys at his funeral on Friday, the AIT Students' Union has said.

The victim of Tuesday's tragic road accident outside Athlone IT was named today as Tullamore native Jordan Murphy. The request has been made as Liverpool FC was "one of Jordan's greatest passions in life."

Gardaí are investigating the circumstances of the crash involving a car, which resulted in the death of Jordan, who was a pedestrian.

Jordan, originally from Tullamore, was commencing his second year in a business course at Athlone IT. His death has sent shockwaves through the community.

Jordan will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his heartbroken parents Alan and Siobhan, brothers Jonathon and A.J, sister Rebecca, step-parents John and Caroleen, his loving girlfriend Aoife, grandparents John Molloy, Andy and Ann Murphy, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and many friends.
