€1,500 snatched from unsuspecting victim outside Offaly bank

Gardaí have arrested an charged a man in his 20s after a terrifying mugging incident in Offaly on Monday, June 11.

The incident occurred outside the AIB Bank on JKL Street in Edenderry at around 10.30am on Monday morning, not long after the bank had opened for business.

The perpetrator approached and snatched €1,500 from the victim during the terrifying ordeal in broad daylight. 

Gardaí attended the scene and began an investigation and swiftly arrested a man in relation to the robbery on Wednesday, June 13. 

He was later interviewed and charged in relation to the offence.

He was brought before Portlaoise District Court on Thursday, June 14 where he was remanded in custody.
