How many Offaly County Councillors will your area have at the next election?

The Local Electoral Area Boundary Committee has recommended Offaly retain its current number of 19 county councillors at the next local elections.

The committee reviewed all constituencies on foot of the 2016 Census results and the minor 1.7% jump in Offaly's population from 76,687 in 2011 to 77,961 in 2016 was not enough for changes in representation to be made.

Offaly is currently represented by 19 county councillors, seven from the Tullamore electoral area and six from each of the electoral areas in Birr and Edenderry.

With a population of 77,961 and 19 members, the individual average population per member in Offaly is 4,103. Edenderry has the strongest per population representation with one councillor to every 3,887 people. Tullamore has one councillor for every 4,165 people, while Birr has one councillor to every 4,246 people. All areas fall inside the national average range.
