A woman in her 20s has been arrested and detained for endangerment after she drove on to a footpath and tried to knock down three males.

The incident happened in Portlaoise yesterday (Monday) at 5.30pm.

The three males had previously damaged a car belonging to another male. A fight ensued and one male was bitten and received injuries to an ear.

As the three males walked away from the incident with a female acquaintance, the woman who was subsequently arrested drove on to a footpath and attempted to knock the three men down. She was arrested and is expected to appear in court today.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses that observed the incident at the Mountrath Road and Abbeyleix Road in Portlaoise to contact Portlaoise Garda Station.
