The new Offaly Rose of Tralee has been crowned at the Offaly Rose Centre Selection Night in the Bridge House in Tullamore.

The 2018 Offaly Rose of Tralee is Katie Kehoe and she will hope to follow in the footsteps of last year's Offaly Rose, Jennifer Byrne, who went on to win the Rose of Tralee Festival last year. Jennifer was on hand at the Selection Night tonight.

Katie is 20 years old and is from Tullamore. She plays both football and camogie for Tullamore and also for the county senior team.

She is currently in her second year of third level education, studying to be a Primary School Teacher in Mary Immaculate College in Limerick.

In her profile Katie says, "I have wanted to teach since I was very young and I have a great love for learning. I see myself as a well-rounded, open minded person who has a varied range of interests from reading to music to gardening! People describe me as a fun and bubbly individual! I love being outdoors and have a particular love for the Irish countryside and all things Irish! In my spare time I enjoy going for walks and cycles with friends and family or spending time on the farm. I love helping others and in general am a very sociable person. I play camogie and football with my local club and football with the Senior Offaly ladies team."

Katie is sponsored by PJ Grennan & Sons.
