For the second time this week, the HSE's Escalation Policy has been put in place at the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore.

The hospital is once again experiencing high levels of attendances with many patients requiring admission today, Thursday May 17.

According to the latest Trolley Watch figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Association, 39 patients were awaiting a bed in the hospital today.

As a result, the HSE’s Escalation Policy has been activated at the hospital. In order to assist, the hospital is requesting that patients in the first instance, consider using their GP out of hours for medical assessment, where possible

The Hospital regrets that any patient should experience delays in accessing In patient beds.
