Most routes remain treacherous

Offaly people urged to slow down on the roads on Monday

Gardaí and Offaly County Council are pleading with motorists to slow down on the roads as the country returns to school and work on the still treaherous roads.

"Even where roads are passable snow is banked on either side and may cause issues. There is dense fog out there making driving conditions hazardous," the council said.

Thawing snow will also cause issues for drivers.

A lot of routes in Offaly are down to one lane, making it difficult in places for drivers to pass one another. There have been reports of traffic travelling too fast this morning and not taking account of these dangers.

Council staff will once again be out today further clearing the roads.
