Met Eireann is forecasting scattered outbreaks of rain and sleet, with snow on higher ground, across the south of the country. These outbreaks will gradually extend northwards this evening and tonight.
Lying snow and icy conditions will make many paths and roads very slippery. Lowest temperatures tonight will be between -2 and +2 degrees. There will be moderate east to northeast winds.
According to Met Eireann, most places will be dry and cloudy tomorrow (Sunday) but scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle will mainly affect the south and east of the country. Temperatures will continue to improve with highest values of 4 to 7 degrees in light to moderate northeasterly winds. Melting snow will lead to increased river levels and surface water flooding.
Sunday night will be cold with clear spells and showers, a few of sleet. Lowest temperatures plus 1 to -2 C, with some frost and icy patches. Some patches of mist and shallow fog also.
Monday will be dry with bright spells, but cloudy, misty periods also, with some scattered showers. Top temperatures 5 to 8 C. Later in the day, a spell of rain will move up from the southeast, to mainly affect parts of Leinster. Remaining snow will continue to thaw. Some rain for a time overnight, but dry, cold and clear later. Lowest temperatures -2 to plus 2 C., with frost and icy patches in many places. Some fog also.
At the moment, Met Eireann is forecasting a cool and mostly cloudy on Tuesday, with some rain or showers, a few falling as hail or sleet. Top temperatures 4 to 7 C, in moderate to fresh northeasterly breezes. Cold overnight again with some further rain or showers at times, but some clear spells also. Lowest temperatures -2 to plus 1 C., with some frost and ice and also some pockets of fog.
