Photo of Fire crew on major Offaly road sums up the extent of Storm Emma
Offaly is covered in over a foot of snow

This photograph taken by an Offaly Fire Crew on the N52 sums up the problem posed by Storm Emma.
The road into Tullamore is covered in three feet of snow in many areas due to severe snow drifts.
Drifting snow became an issue overnight as high winds and driving snow arrived in Ireland thanks to Storm Emma on Thursday night.
Fire and other emergency services were on duty and remain on duty and these lads were trying to clear the roads they needed.
Offaly County Council is expected to start ploughing roads this afternoon after ceasing treatment works at lunchtime on Thursday.
