Authorities baffled as fireworks let off in Edenderry housing estate

Authorities have reacted this Thursday night after fireworks were let off in an Edenderry housing estate.

Residents in the Sycamores estate on the Tullamore side of Edenderry reported fireworks launched from a house in the area at around 10pm.

The residents report at least "five shots" of fireworks on Thursday night while the country is under a serious Status Red weather warning.

The National Emergency Co-ordination Group and Met Eireann have warned people to remain indoors until 6pm on Friday and not to take unnecessary risks.

A Fire Services vehicle was enabled in the Sycamores area on Thursday night in reaction to the fireworks.

A red weather warning is the most serious available to authorities.

Storm Emma continues to track towards Offaly bringing heavy snow and severe winds.

The Taoiseach has warned of the "significant" risk to life during this red weather alert.
