Gardaí respond to suspicious van in snow-covered Offaly countryside

Gardaí responding to the area

Gardai are responding this evening to reports of a suspicious vehicle in South Offaly.

Locals reported a white Ford Transit van acting suspiciously on the Rath to Kinnitty road shortly before 4pm on Wednesday as the county is gripped by a Status Orange weather warning.

The locals report seeing a man with lurcher dog walking around houses.  The registration of the van is thought to be a 131 D.

The behaviour was reported to Birr Gardai and they are responding to allay the fears of local residents.

Any further sightings or information should be directed to Birr Garda Station.

Despite the weather warnings and severe snow, Offaly gardaí have moved to inform locals that they are there to service their needs through the Text Alert scheme, NW, and Community Alert Scheme.
