Blizzard with Status Red weather warning for snow on the way warns Met Éireann

Blizzard like snow on the way.

The Status Yellow Weather Warning issued yesterday by Met Eireann for Kilkenny, Longford, Wexford, Offaly, Westmeath, Cork, Tipperary and Waterford is now active.

The national weather forecaster is predicting scattered snow showers this evening and tonight which will lead to accumulations of up to 3 cm in some parts by Wednesday morning. Widespread frost and icy conditions also.

Snow has already begun to fall across the county. This warning is in place until 11am tomorrow but further more serious warning are expected for later in the week.
