WARNING: Heavy rain has left surface water on a number of Offaly roads

Caution advised if you are on driving on secondary roads today

Heavy rain overnight has left standing water on many secondary roads in Offaly this morning.

That is making driving conditions hazardous on a number of roads with the AA reporting surface water on secondary routes in and around Tullamore and Clara.

There is also surface water on the road from Kinnitty to Clonaslee with considerable accumulations in places.

Motorists are being advised to reduce their speed on roads where there is a risk of standing water.

Elsewhere in the country, the AA is reporting surface water around Thurles and spot flooding on the Nenagh toBorrisleigh Rd.

Galway is particularly badly hit with spot flooding along the prom in Salthill.

The AA is also reporting spot flooding on the N55 Athlone/Longford Rd between Athlone and Ballymahon and also on the N4 Sligo/Dublin Rd between Longford and Carrick-On-Shannon.
