Offaly ETB schools will all open as usual tomorrow

All Laois Offaly ETB schools and centres will open tomorrow, Monday, December 11. The decision was taken this evening and announced on Twitter


The Laois Offaly ETB is patron to the following secondary schools in Offaly: Ard Scoil Chiaráin Naofa, Clara; Banagher College; Coláiste Naomh Cormac, Kilcormac; Oaklands Community College, Edenderry; Tullamore College. 

It is also responsible for Further Education Centres in: Banagher, Birr, Clara, Edenderry, Mountmellick, Portarlington and Tullamore.

Banagher College however will open at 10am to allow for difficult travelling condition

Joe Cunningham, Laois Offaly ETB chief executive, told the Express yesterday that the weather conditions resulting from the Status Orange Weather Alert are being watched.

"We are monitoring the situation, mindful of the weather forecasts for both Laois and Offaly, and will also be guided by instruction from the Department of Education and Skills. The safety of our staff and students will be the primary concern in whatever decision is made locally."

We will bring you news on any school closures tomorrow as and when we get it.
