The heavy snow forecast for Offaly in a Status Orange Weather Warning has arrived leaving the county under a blanket of snow.

The Status Orange Weather Warning is in place until 11pm tonight and further snowfalls are expected throughout the day with temperatures expected to remain around freezing point.

Driving conditions across the county are being reported as treacherous with Gardai advising motorists to exercise extreme caution when travelling and avoid unnecessary journeys if possible.
