Today's status yellow covers all of Munster, Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath, Meath and Roscommon.

Scattered snow showers will occur later Thursday, Thursday night and into Friday, while slight to moderate accumulations are possible with up to 3cm in parts.

There will be icy stretches too, and while north and northwest counties will be most at risk, areas of higher ground elsewhere are also at particular risk.

Road conditions will be in a poor state across the country and motorists are advised to be vigilant for ice and to slow down.
